The 2016 transportation tax could generate $6-$7 billion over 30 years, enabling the development of an inclusive, sustainable, and integrated transportation system to meet the needs of Silicon Valley’s growing population.
This brief presents the findings from community meetings and workshops conducted by the Transportation Justice Alliance (TJA) and the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). Over 400 residents participated, providing input on the potential 2016 transit tax. The meetings utilized a methodology where participants ranked their preferred transportation investments from a list provided by the VTA. The valuable insights gathered regarding the community’s transit needs and challenges make a case for the 2016 transporation tax, informed decision-making and prioritizing equitable transportation investments.
