Rebeca’s leadership has been instrumental in amplifying worker voices and driving meaningful change. Serving as a Councilmember for the City of Gilroy, and as the Movement Building Director for Working Partnerships USA, Rebeca embodies the values of justice, equity, and resilience across her work for the entirety of Santa Clara County.

Despite nearly a million in corporate opposition, our communities showed up in full force to elect progressive leaders who will protect workers’ rights, support immigrant communities, create affordable housing, and implement compassionate public safety solutions.

Tthe road ahead won’t be easy, but at Working Partnerships USA, we’re committed to building a future where everyone in Santa Clara County thrives—no matter their race, gender, occupation, or immigration status.

We are facing real threats from the incoming federal administration. They will make the way much harder, but we will continue to build power and mobilize our communities. This past weekend, we joined a growing coalition of local community-based organizations including HERO Tent, Working Partnerships USA, SOMOS Mayfair, LUNA, SIREN, Teatro Visión, and Amigos De Guadalupe, bringing the community together for discussions of strategy, healing, and organizing.

As we come together to process the changes happening all across the country, we are reminded of the power of strengthening our local solidarity, investing in grassroots leadership, and building a roadmap for our region’s future. We discussed topics ranging from resisting surveillance and defending workers’ rights to creating community through art and music—this was just the beginning. The fight to protect our communities and build a future rooted in justice continues, and it only grows stronger with YOU. 💪

Let’s keep the momentum going, and stay tuned for what’s next. Together, we will rise.

🧠 Mental health services are essential for everyone in Santa Clara County to thrive and lead fulfilling lives. For their role in deepening our county's mental health crisis, HCA must take immediate action to put patients over profits.

Join us this Monday, November 18, at Good Samaritan Hospital as we rally to demand:
✔️ The full restoration of mental health services at Good Samaritan Hospital
✔️ The creation of a patient protection fund to safeguard our care

Then, on Tuesday, November 19, make your voice heard at San José City Hall! Let the City Council know we need to stand up to HCA and push for real solutions to our mental health crisis.

From advocates to impacted families, our voices united for a single purpose: ensuring every person has access to the care they need. This is about doing what's right for our county during a deepening mental health crisis, and our fight is far from over. We’re committed to fighting for accessible, equitable healthcare that can't be made vulnerable by a single corporation.

Join us on November 18th for a rally in front of Good Samaritan Hospital, and on the 19th during the San José City Council Meeting. We need action, not empty promises. When mental health services disappear, it’s our families, friends, and neighbors who suffer.

Their divestment from essential services at Regional Medical Center and Good Samaritan has severely impacted healthcare access for Santa Clara County. It’s time for HCA to take responsibility and meet with community members to discuss how they can support our health rather than undermine it.

We’re calling for the full restoration of mental health services at Good Samaritan and the creation of a patient protection fund to prevent further cuts to critical care. Together, we can make sure HCA’s priorities reflect our community’s needs. Stand with us and let’s show that our health comes first! 💪

Rise Up for Healthcare Access in San José!! On

Rise Up for Healthcare Access in San José!!

On October 23, San José’s Planning Commission voted 7-1 to deny the rezoning and expansion of Good Samaritan Hospital, taking a stand against HCA Healthcare's profit-focused approach that’s left too many without care:

2004: Closed San José Medical Center
2020: Removed maternity services
2023: Cut NICU and psych services
2024: Downgraded trauma & emergency care

The proposed expansion focuses on private rooms, not community needs, violating San José’s General Plan. We’re urging Councilmember Pam Foley to delay any expansion hearings until mid-December so our city staff has time to evaluate the impact of the expansion on our City’s General Plan. The delay will also push HCA Healthcare to finally meet with the community and be held accountable. Take action now to ensure our community’s voice is heard! Scan the QR code to take action now.

This election season, hundreds of races will determine whether our community has access to resources or if our systems will widen the gap in health disparities in our community. The difference is in our vote. 🗳⁠

That's why our team has dedicated themselves to empowering voters in the community, hosting insightful, non-partisan voting forums. Partnering with the My Vote. My Health. Coalition at the CARAS space in Gilroy, we conducted a forum for our local Spanish-speaking community, providing vital information about the voting process, their rights as voters, and an explanation on the propositions on their ballots. We also hosted a forum aimed at youth voters, energizing the next generation to participate and make their voices heard.⁠

With Election Day upon us tomorrow, it's time to turn this momentum into action. Every vote matters—let's make a difference together. ¡Todos somos necesarios! ¡Participa!⁠
