We had an incredible time last week at East Side Unified High School District's College & Career Night and Alta Vista High School, where we presented alongside one of our inspiring Trades Orientation Program (TOP) alumni! 🎓👷‍♂️ Students had the chance to learn all about the amazing opportunities the trades offer—high-demand jobs, competitive pay, and a strong sense of community and purpose.⁠

TOP stands for more than just job training—it’s about creating career pathways that offer stability, fair wages, and the pride of building something that lasts. We believe in empowering individuals with the skills and confidence to thrive in high-demand trades, and our alumni are living proof that you can build a successful, fulfilling career with or without a four-year degree. ⁠

Community organizations and volunteers united to ensure that every voice is heard and counted in this election. As part of the My Vote, My Health initiative, we were calling to remind voters about the crucial link between health and civic participation, in partnership with local clinics. We also had callers that rallied to support policies that would boost affordable housing developments across California, especially in the Bay Area⁠

🏥 TOMORROW: Join us to restore vital healthcare in East San José and hold HCA accountable!

It’s been just over a month since HCA Healthcare discontinued vital services from East San José and residents are already feeling the effects of a diminished healthcare center.

This is why we’re continuing to urge the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors to quickly and comprehensively restore the services removed by HCA Healthcare through the County’s acquisition of the Regional Medical Center. We will continue our campaign to hold HCA Healthcare accountable for divesting from our community and to keep our community whole. We’re also asking the county to continue keeping the community, labor partners, and other stakeholders involved in the process of developing Regional Medical Center.

Join us in demanding accountability from HCA Healthcare and urging the County to put our community’s needs first. Together, we can make a real impact on the future of healthcare in East San José!

Tomorrow, September 19, Santa Clara County is hosting a community town hall where County leaders share information about the proposed purchase of Regional Medical Center (RMC) from HCA Healthcare. This is a monumental opportunity for us to directly hear what this significant acquisition means for the East San José community, and directly engage with decision-makers to express our concerns, hopes, and expectations regarding the future of equitable healthcare in Santa Clara County.

We’re urging each and every one of you to attend—your presence sends a powerful message about our unwavering commitment to accessible, quality healthcare for all. Let's continue to stand united and ensure that the transition of Regional Medical Center prioritizes patient care, respects healthcare workers, and holds HCA Healthcare accountable to the harm they’ve caused our communities.

✨ Our hearts are filled with gratitude for everyone who supported our 2024 Champions for Change gala and embraced the spirit of the event. Last night was more than a celebration—it was a call to action. We were moved by the words of leaders driving change, connected with allies committed to bold, audacious action, and left with a renewed sense of purpose to move forward together.

We are immensely proud and grateful for our 2024 Champions: Bob Brownstein, @supcindychavez, and the Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld law firm. Their leadership exemplifies the power of dreaming big and taking bold steps to bring those dreams to life. We were also fortunate to hear from our other guest speakers, who inspired and captivated the audience with their powerful messages.

This evening wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our Champions for Change sponsors. Your contributions fuel our work, and we are deeply appreciative. We also want to acknowledge the hard work of the Hayes Mansion team, the stage and sound technicians, the vibrant performances by the Musica Colibri Trio and @sanjosetaiko, and our talented photographer, @movementphotographer, who beautifully captured the essence of the evening. And, of course, a huge thank you to the dedicated team at Working Partnerships USA, whose commitment made this event truly special.

Join medical workers and community members stand in support of the county’s purchase of Regional Medical Center. We're holding a Press Conference at the back patio of the Santa Clara County Government Center starting at 9:30am. Then at 10am, we'll move into the meeting to voice our support.

Your voice is vital in ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible to everyone in our community!

🎉 Today, our community has taken a huge step towards winning equitable access to healthcare for ALL. The decision by Santa Clara County to take over Regional Medical Center and keep its doors open is a step in the right direction to reclaim healthcare, not just for the Eastside — but for every resident across Santa Clara County.

But it's too early to celebrate! There is still work to be done — we need to keep organizing to ensure that the Board of Supervisors and HCA Healthcare reach an agreement swiftly, and in alignment with what patients, doctors and medical workers need. Stay tuned on updates on how we can take this to the finish line and
⁠reclaim healthcare and stand up against private corporations that have hijacked our health systems for their own profits. ⁠
