✨ Our hearts are filled with gratitude for everyone who supported our 2024 Champions for Change gala and embraced the spirit of the event. Last night was more than a celebration—it was a call to action. We were moved by the words of leaders driving change, connected with allies committed to bold, audacious action, and left with a renewed sense of purpose to move forward together.

We are immensely proud and grateful for our 2024 Champions: Bob Brownstein, @supcindychavez, and the Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld law firm. Their leadership exemplifies the power of dreaming big and taking bold steps to bring those dreams to life. We were also fortunate to hear from our other guest speakers, who inspired and captivated the audience with their powerful messages.

This evening wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our Champions for Change sponsors. Your contributions fuel our work, and we are deeply appreciative. We also want to acknowledge the hard work of the Hayes Mansion team, the stage and sound technicians, the vibrant performances by the Musica Colibri Trio and @sanjosetaiko, and our talented photographer, @movementphotographer, who beautifully captured the essence of the evening. And, of course, a huge thank you to the dedicated team at Working Partnerships USA, whose commitment made this event truly special.

Join medical workers and community members stand in support of the county’s purchase of Regional Medical Center. We're holding a Press Conference at the back patio of the Santa Clara County Government Center starting at 9:30am. Then at 10am, we'll move into the meeting to voice our support.

Your voice is vital in ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible to everyone in our community!

🎉 Today, our community has taken a huge step towards winning equitable access to healthcare for ALL. The decision by Santa Clara County to take over Regional Medical Center and keep its doors open is a step in the right direction to reclaim healthcare, not just for the Eastside — but for every resident across Santa Clara County.

But it's too early to celebrate! There is still work to be done — we need to keep organizing to ensure that the Board of Supervisors and HCA Healthcare reach an agreement swiftly, and in alignment with what patients, doctors and medical workers need. Stay tuned on updates on how we can take this to the finish line and
⁠reclaim healthcare and stand up against private corporations that have hijacked our health systems for their own profits. ⁠

Her innovative thinking, ability to unite communities, and unwavering commitment to social justice have left lasting positive impacts through the whole region. Supervisor Chavez has championed key policies addressing inequality, including affordable housing, renters' rights, and major transportation initiatives. Her efforts have also expanded services for vulnerable children, launched public health campaigns, and improved digital access for disadvantaged students.⁠

🕯️ Today is the last day of full services for the RMC's Trauma, Heart Attack, and Stroke Centers.

Join patients and leaders left in mourning at HCA Healthcare's irresponsible decisions that divest from a community in need. We'll be holding a candlelight vigil to honor the lives lost and the lives that will remain in danger from lack of access to medical services. It's not too late to reverse this course of action.

Tomorrow morning, East San José community members and allies are rallying in front of Good Samaritan Hospital, another medical facility owned by HCA Healthcare, to highlight the billion dollar corporation’s decision to pull emergency support from the communities that need it the most.⁠

Despite reporting record high profits as recent as this past month, HCA is shamefully pulling essential health services from the Regional Medical Center, leaving the East San José community in desperate need. Doctors, nurses, first responders, community advocates and more have repeatedly come together in recent weeks to demand that these vital services remain available and accessible to the patients who need them.

Join us later today for a press conference as we stand up and demand that HCA prioritize patients over profits! Our community cannot sit idly in the face of this disregard for our health and well-being—let's ensure our voices are heard as we fight for the healthcare that everyone deserves.
